Error: This version of Windows does not support this version of Office SharePoint Server 2007
Some of you may have seen the following error when trying to run Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 on Windows Server 2008 (WS08).

If you see the above error don’t panic. The most likely cause of this error is that you may be using either an RTM version of MOSS 2007 or do not have SP1 installed. As of Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 with SP1, you can install WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 on WS08. You cannot install WSS 3.0 or MOSS 2007 without service packs on WS008.
I run MOSS 2007 on WS08 in a Hyper-V environment and highly recommend this configuration. For more information please refer to the WS08 Resource Center for SharePoint Products and Technologies, which has lots of information about running MOSS 2007 on WS08.
